a mistake that a lot of people make is being a fan of only one kind of media. that’s where marvel fan brainrot comes from, that’s where gamer brainrot comes from, that’s where anime fan brainrot comes from. you need healthy variety to maintain good media literacy
“so that i don’t become the type of adult who run a ‘steven universe critical’ blog” is a great way of putting it
id, emphasis mine:
#i am MOSTLY a cartoon fan but I do try to periodically get into other mediums too #books podcasts live action etc etc #it’s Important that I go do shit like hyperfixate on dracula for a couple months #so that i don’t become the type of adult who would like. run a ‘steven universe critical’ blog #if you consume media that is all the same genre and medium and intended demographic #then you end up forgetting that genre and medium and intended demographics are Things that apply to media #and the way you talk abt said media will make that fact quite clear
This show.. THIS SHOW. It shaped my current interests. Gravity Falls is what got me interested in history and horror and cryptids and secret codes and all that. Now I write in cypher text for fun.
And Gravity Falls is still one of my main hyperfixations to this day.
